Married Evelyn B. White. They had three daughters, all of whom died young.
Edward's sister Elizabeth married Arthur Jeffrey, who was Evelyn's second cousin.
Article from The Daily News, Batavia NY, 6 March 1917 "FORMER RESIDENT OF BERGEN FOUND DEAD AT LIVONIA: Edward S. Burns, a former resident of this village [Bergen, New York] was found dead on Friday evening in his home in Livonia. He had not been feeling well for several weeks. Not seeing him since Wednesday, neighbors broke into the house and found his body lying on the floor. Mr Burns was 73 years old. He leaves a brother, William E. Burns of this village, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jeffreys of Rochester and Miss Hattie Burns of Brockport. His wife died seven years ago."
