Biography

Susanna Brookhouser was a daughter of Adam Brookhouser (1803–1865) and Mary Stokes (1808–1881), born in 1836 in Pennsylvania. Her family lived in Haryfield, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in 1850.^[1]

Susanna married David E Jones (abt.1830-1902) and in 1860, they appeared in French Creek Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, with two children: Albert (age 9) and Frances (age 4).^[2]

David Jones and Susana Brookhouser had the following children:

About the close of the Civil War, David and his family settled in St John Township near Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa. Their three younger children were born there. David ran his farm for many years.^{[3][4][5][6][7]}

David died on 8 Aug 1902 of apparent heart failure and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.^[8]

After David's death, Susanna remained in Harrison County, and by 1920, she lived with her youngest daughter's family in Minden, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.^[9][10]

Susanna died on 23 Oct 1924 and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa.^[11][12]
