Hi Chris,

I am interested in joining the Edwards ONS, but there is only one Team listed and it doesn't link with my own Edwards Family.

Mine appears to begin in Wicklow, Ireland with William Edwards (Edwards-10000), who then moved to Gravesend, Kent, England. I can't move beyond that one William Edwards (my most annoying brick wall!) and would like to make a start adding him and his descendants (including me!) to the Edwards ONS.

Please advise what I should do next.

Many thanks,

Laura Franks (nee Edwards)

Hi Chris

I see you are a leader of the Edwards Project. My Edwards line is in Canada and directly connects to Edwards in Suffolk England.

My mother was Wahnieta Edwards 1938-2012 her father was John McCurdy Edwards 1915-1955. His father was Thomas Lewis Edwards 1885-1928. All were born in Eastern Ontario. Thomas' father was Frederick Lewis Edwards 1826-1895, he was born in Framlingham, Suffolk, England, and died in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. His father was Frederick Edwards 1793-1877, born in Framlingham, Suffolk, England; his father was George Edwards 1753-1836 of Dennington, Suffolk, England. George's father was John Edwards 1714-179 born in Kenton, Suffolk, England. John was named after his father who was born in 1692 and died in 1748. He was named after his father born in 1654 and died in 1729. My information ends with his father Rubin Edwards born in 1605 in Suffolk, he married Ann.

This is my dead end. So, my question is, does anyone know this family line? I was told they held a few major properties.

But where did this line come from? Are they of Welsh descent?

Is this outside of your Projects Interest? Should a new project be set up?

Hi Chris, George Fitzgerald 1739 Virginia is my husband's direct ancestor. Our family information has that he was not married to Sarah Bolling Gay. This is what a cousin wrote several years ago when I asked about the marriage.

"I found an email from 2016 where the cousin Helen Thibodeaux wrote abt Sally Bolling Gay. This is what Helen said, "I do know George Fitzgerald's first wife was not Sally bolling Gay. My Mother's lineage went back to include the Gay family & there was no Sally Bolling Gay that was born and could have fit into the life of George Fitzgerald. One Sally Bolling Gay never married & the other married another man, not George. Her Mother's family was "Totty". I hope we can straighten out the wives of George." We are very interested in finding out the truth about the marriage & would like to correspond. Thank you for your help, Carolyn Fitzgarrald

Hi Chris,

Thanks for taking responsibility for more Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

The curiosity is it is such an uncommon name, there may be a link to President Lyndon Johnson which may be researchable.

Anyway, I like research clues like that and would have fun looking it up if I had time. Maybe . . . . sometime.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for entering Lyndon Johnson Whitlock to wikitree. I'm a Whitlock from the early SC group but was rather surprised at your ancestor's first name and how he got it. Do you know? That would be a challenge to learn!!! Very interesting, thanks for sharing.  ;-)) Barb

Unfortunately, I don't know the provenance of the name. As far as I can tell, it first appeared in 1867 and was Lindon. In the next generation it had change to Lyndon and remained in that form.

Hi Chris, You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.

"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from."

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Please, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.
