A review of my Ancestry DNA matches cast doubt upon my descent from Asa Pennington but revealed descent from the Boone family (see my comment in Pennington-5237 for my initial analysis of the DNA matches described below). Noting that Asa's paternal uncle, Richard Pennington, was the 2nd husband of Hannah Boone, I did a search on my Ancestry DNA match database using the query 'Boone" and got about 370 results. Of these, I extracted 267 of the most likely candidates, which I added to a Boone group. Out of the 267 candidates, I identified 178 matches for further study, 176 of which were listed as descendants of George Boone, father of Squire Boone, Sr. Out of these, 124 were listed as descendants of Squire Boone, Sr. I added most of these to a private Boone Family Tree on Ancestry. In comparing my George Family Tree to the Boone tree I have, up to this point, found that Hannah Boone is the only possible nexus for my Boone and Pennington connections. My initial hypothesis is that one of the sons of Hannah Boone had a child with Rachel Lane, wife of Asa Pennington. This is reinforced by numerous DNA matches with descendants of Corbin Lane and Frances Proctor, the parents of Rachel Lane. On the other hand, I can find no matches descended from any of the children of Asa Pennington. Further study may disprove this hypothesis, or lead to the discovery of additional hypotheses for my connection to the Boone family.

I did a further analysis of the Ancestry trees for the matches listing descent from Hannah Boone. I found 43 matches for Hannah Boone, 17 of which can be verified with reasonable confidence. The 17 verified matches are split between descendants of John Stewart and Hannah (9), and Richard Pennington and Hannah (8). I found a total of 20 matches for John Stewart and Hannah. Seven of the verified matches were for descendants of Ann Elizabeth Stewart, and two were for a descendant of Mary Stewart. Of the rejected matches, six were for purported children of John Stewart and Hannah for which I could not find sources, William B. Stewart and Frances Stewart. Five others were for trees which could not be otherwise verified. I found 23 matches listed as descendants of Richard Pennington and Hannah Boone. Three of the 23 trees for Richard Pennington and Hannah Boone had significant errors. Of the remaining 20 trees, 12 were verified, but four of those had multiple lines of descent from the Pennington family, resulting in eight usable matches. Eight trees could not be verified. Of these, five unverified trees were from a single family group. Overall, some of the trees that could not be verified could possibly be verified with further research.

Morgan-17895 and Boone-117 appear to represent the same person because: I am cleaning up my unconnected profiles. I am not sure where the Last Name at Birth came from in this orginal profile, but I know this represents the same person from the family records. I have clearly messed up somewhere. Please help me clean up WikiTree and approve this merger.
Boone-5008 and Boone-117 appear to represent the same person because: same dates, intended to be the same person, clear duplicate

A large memorial marker was placed and dedicated in honor of Hannah Boone, youngest sister of Daniel Boone, at Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Historic Park, Tompkinsville, Kentucky on April 26, 2003.

This was in connection

Hannah was buried near this place, and her gravestone is located inside the park, where it is a most photographed site. She was born 24 August 1746 in Pennsylvania, and migrated with her parents, Squire and Sarah Morgan Boone to Rowan County, North Carolina. She first married John Stewart in 1765, and had four daughters, Sarah, Mary, Rachel and Elizabeth Stewart. After he was killed by Indians in Kentucky, she married 1777 Richard Pennington and four more children were born - Joshua, Daniel B., John Stewart and Abigail Pennington.
