Biography

Alice Blom was the daughter of Bernard Blom (1861–1917) and Ida Slight (1863–1949), born on 1 Jul 1890 in Ackley, Hardin County, Iowa. She grew up in Ackley and Etna.^[1][2][3]

Alice married Jacob Greenfield (1885–1952) on 31 May 1910 in Hardin County, Iowa. Jake worked as an undertaker in Etna and Ackley, where they raised their children.^{[4][5][6][7][8][9]}

Alice Blom and Jacob Greenfield had the following children:

• Marzella Bernice (Greenfield) Shellard (1910–2002)
• Morris Jacob Greenfield (1912–1990)
• Faye Alice (Greenfield) DeArmoun Bower (1917–1993)

Alice died on 6 Feb 1971 in Webster City, Hamilton, Iowa, and was buried in Oak Wood Cemetery in Ackley, Franklin County, Iowa. Her obituary appeared in The Courier in Waterloo, Iowa, on 8 Feb 1971.^[10][11][12]

ACKLEY - Private services for Mrs. Alice Greenfield, 80, who died Saturday at the hospital in Webster City, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home where the body will lie in state until 10:30 a.m.; burial in Oakwood Cemetery; survived by two daughters, Mrs. Morris Shellard of Fremont, Neb., and Mrs. James Bower of Bridgeport, Calif.; one son, Morris Greenfield of Webster City, and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Wilson of Ackley, and Mrs. Edith Keuhn of Breckinridge, Minn.
