Biography

Samuel Barnardiston was the 6th surviving son of Thomas Barnardiston, 2nd Baronet of Ketton, and Elizabeth King. He inherited the title of Baronet after the death of his elder brother Robert in 1728, thereby becoming the 5th Baronet of Ketton.^[1]

In Aug 1730, Samuel married Catherine, daughter of Sir. Rowland Wynne of Nostel-Abby in Yorkshire.^[1] The marriage license was dated Aug 28 and the marriage took place on Aug 29 at Whitehall Chapel. Samuel's place of residence was listed as Katton [sic] Suffolk and Catherine's as St. George Hanover Square Middlesex.^[2] They probably resided at Lyston Hall in Essex.^[1]

Samuel died on 4 Feb 1735/6 and was buried in the family vault in St Peter and St Paul's Church at Kedington on 13 Feb.^[3] Since he had no issue, he was succeeded by his nephew Sir John Barnardiston, son of his younger brother John, who predeceased him.^{[1] [4][5]}
