He married Lucy Ann Grant, April 14,1868. He died, April 14,1884, 19 years after the Civil War (Chester Arthur's 3rd year as 21st President). His wife, Lucy, died 3 months later and they are buried together in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond,Va. Thomas & Lucy, married 16 years, both died young and their five children were adopted and raised by his brother, Robert Armistead.
