Biography

Jennett Armistead was born in Gisburn Yorkshire June 1603. Gisburn is due west of Broughton past West/East Marton. Her father was Thomas Armistead and her mother was Anna Newhouse; they had married in Giggleswick Nov 1602.

NOTE: There were many Armisteads from the Gisburn/Giggleswick area at that time and more than one Thomas. Selection of the correct Thomas and his wife is on a "best-efforts" basis with no guarantees.

The name Jana was most commonly used at that time to identify women also named Janet or Jennett. She married Thomas Ellis in Gargrave Yorkshire July 16/1632 and they had a daughter Mary Ellis b 1642 in Rylstone, NE of Gargrave.
