Born: Ephraim Allen was born 20 Oct 1777 in Sanford, Maine. He was the son of Solomon Allen and Catherine Jedediah (Neal) Allen .[1][2]

-Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it voted to secede from Massachusetts to become a separate state.[3]

Siblings: Children of Solomon Allen and Catherine Jedediah (Neal) Allen:

Marriage Intentions: filed 10 Nov 1805 between Ephraim Allen and Lydia Furbish in Sanford, Maine.[5][6]

Children: The follwing are thought to be children of Ephraim and Lydia: Child: @I58@.

1840 Census, Sanford, Maine:[7] This census is a tally, but the ages agree with those of Ephraim, Lydia and the children remaining at home.

1850 Census, Sanford, Maine:[8] Ephraim, age 72, and Lydia, age 62, are living their children: Solomon Allen age 32; Solomon's wife Dorothy (Hatch) Allen age 25; Stephen F Allen age 26; Nahum Allen age 20; Olive J Allen age 18; and John Allen age 16. Ephraim is a farmer who owns real estate. Solomon, Stephen and Nahum are also listed as farmers. See lines 25 -32.

-Line 33, living next door, is son James N Allen, age 40, who is also a farmer who owns real estate.
-Lines 18 - 24 may enumerate Ephraim's brother Elijah Allen III, age 74 and family.
-Lines 13 - 17 may enumerate Ephraim's brother James Allen, age 79, and family.

1860 Census, Sanford, Maine:[9] The couple continue to live in the same home as 1850 based upon the neighbors. Ephraim is age 82 and still farming and owning real estate. Also living in his home is wife Lydia, age 72, son Solomon Allen age 41; Solomon's wife Dorothy (Hatch) Allen age 35; son John Allen age 24; and Solomon and Dorothy's children (Ephraim's grandchildren): George F Allen age 3 and Olive A Allen age 1. See lines 1 - 7.

-Lines 8 -11, continueing to living next door, is son James N Allen, age 50, and family.
-Followed by several other families of Allens. Relationsips unknown.

Death and Burial: 14 Nov 1869. Sanford, Maine.[10] Buried in family cemetery in Sanford.[2]
