NEHGS copy of the "Society of Friends at Berwick (North Berwick) Maine record "Catherine" Neals and Solomon Allen's birth, and death dates, as well as the fact they are married. It neither records the date of their marriage, nor the place any of these events took place. [5]
Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it voted to secede from Massachusetts to become a separate state. However, many sources prior to that date will list Maine. Sanford was first settled in 1731 and incorporated in 1768. [6][7]
