Edwin was born in 1921. In the 1930 census Edwin (age 8) was the son of John C Adkins in District 4, Campbell County, Tennessee, United States.[1] In the 1940 census Edmond (age 18), farm hand, was the single son of Alvins Adkins in Campbell, Tennessee.[2]
Corporal Edwin Adkins served in the United States Army in World War II Service started: 19 Sep 1942 Unit(s): Service ended: 25 Oct 1945
Edwin was working in mining when he was drafted into the US Army during World War II. He enlisted on 19 September 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. At enlistment he was 5'8" and weighed 127 pounds. He was discharged on 25 October 1945 at the rank of corporal.[3]
After the war Edwin married Willene Roberts. In the 1950 census Edwin (age 29) was the married head of household in Campbell County, Tennessee. He had his own business.[4]
Edwin died on 6 May 1978.[5] He had been living in La Follette, Campbell County, Tennesee.[6] He was buried in Adkins Cemetery, Straight Fork, Scott County, Tennessee, United States.[7]
