Wm M Cline, per Civil War enlistment papers, was b in Indiana Co, PA; his birth years vary from ca 1817-1822, but 1817 seems most likely. NOTHING is known of his early years or his family -- I no NOTHING about parents or siblings. At some point he moved to Belmont Co, OH and m Nancy Norman in 1838 in Belmont Co, OH. His descendants are well-documented, but lend no info on who their grandparents/ancestors were. I have noted that one son and 2 grandsons have the middle name McClellan; one dau was named Marian Wallace Cline, after the wife of Scottish Chieftain William Wallace, and one son is named William W Cline. All above circumstantially leads me to think perhaps Wm's mother was a McClellan and they're of Scottish descent. My recent Ancestry DNA results show 30% Scottish/Irish, and I have no other known lines of that heritage (though much Welsh and English). William's first child was named Margaret, presumably after his mother-in-law, also a Margaret, so is his 2nd dau Susannah possibly the name of his mother? Someone wrote me years ago that a cemetery note associated with son Harry McClellan Ashton suggested Wm's father was named Henry. There IS a Henry Clyne in the Wheatfield Twp, Indiana Co, PA 1830 census, but it only shows 2 daughters, and Wm would have been ca 13 years; he should have been there if it was his family. This line has been a brick wall for nearly 25 years, but finding any helpful info in Indiana Co has been (so far) impossible. I think I'm on the right track but I'm pretty much at a loss on how to proceed. Does this info fit with anyone else researching Cline or McClellan?
