Can "G2G Profile" link on WikiTree pages be moved from Profile ID menu to the My WikiTree menu?

As I was trying to help someone today, I realized that the "G2G Profile" link is found on different menus depending on where you are. If you're looking for it via WikiTree, it's located on the Profile ID menu; however, if you're in G2G, it's on the My WikiTree menu.

I think it would be less confusing for our members if it were always found on the My WikiTree menu. Is it possible to have it moved?

When I'm looking for somebody else's G2G profile, it makes sense that I need to look under their profile ID in Wikitree, not mine.

Edited to clarify that i was referring to the person's profile ID in Wikitree, not G2G

Yes ... as Steven pointed out below. ;-)

The problem I was having was explaining to a newer member how to find the link to their own G2G profile. It shows up in two different places depending on where you are. Most new members don't realize that they're on a completely different website when they're in G2G, so it can be a bit confusing.
Oh, and Ellen ... there is no Profile ID menu on G2G ... which is why I was having trouble explaining where to find it. ;-)
As I see it, the main difference between the G2G menus and the "regular WikiTree" menus is that the elements under the profile ID are not available in the G2G menus.  The user's own G2G profile is  about the only item from the profile ID menu that is available anywhere in the G2G menus.
Yeah, so I typoed. Fixed it :-)
Erm... I mistakenly interpreted your typo of "on" (ntended to be "no") as a typo for "one." Now that you fixed your typo, I edited my comment, too...  Phew!!!

Well, I'm glad we finally came to an understanding.  laugh

This may be a tricky one - but simply moving it would not be a good option.

The way it is now, the Wiki-ID Menu is profile specific (to whatever profile you are currently on). So if I am on your profile (or you are on mine) you select the Wiki-ID > G2G Profile and get that person's G2G profile (i.e., I see yours and you see mine). This is very helpful, especially for Mentors, Rangers, etc.

So I think the solution is to create a new G2G Profile link under the My WikiTree menu that is specific to the logged in member (i.e., no matter which profile I am viewing, it would always return my G2G Profile). This also works the same for other links, such as Family Tree & Tools. There is an option for my Family Tree & Tools under My WikiTree, and an option for to view another profile's Family Tree & Tools.

That would work, too! :-)

A related concern I have had (and reported in the past) is that when another member has a private family tree, I can't access that member's G2G profile from their "regular WikiTree" profile page. This is because the "profile ID" tab is not displayed to me on their profile. The cure for that would be to add an additional link to their G2G profile on the profile page, but it would have to be a link that anyone could see.

That's a good idea, Ellen.

You can always get to a person's G2G profile by clicking on yours and then substituting their Profile ID, but it would be a lot easier if we had a direct link in a consistent location.

While we're talking about moving menu items, I'd like to point out this thread, which is about a similar pain point.

Thanks, Greg!

I'm pretty sure it's difficult, if not impossible, to customize the menus in G2G since it's a 3rd-party piece of software. I may be wrong about that, but I do know there have been discussion before about customizing it, and the answer was that it's not an easy thing to do.
