I know that my 3rd great-grandfather is James M. Carroll.
Born about 1833 in Georgia. He died 6th of June 1862 in Big Creek Gap, Tennessee of fever per Confederate records. Married Sarah Ann Pitner (later Carroll-McAllister) and had 2 children including my 2nd g-grandfather.
It seems there is another James M. Carroll in Georgia in the early to mid-1800's who married a Sarah. This has already caused some confusion for me, and may be why he is one of my brick walls.
Here are two blog posts I wrote about it:
Find-A-Grave confusion
James M. Carroll
My question is, does anyone else have a James M. Carroll in their tree? Or Carrolls in Northern Georgia around that time period?
He married Sarah in Union County in 1855. Also lived in Bibb County and Lumpkin County.
