Danish Experts Welcome

Working on an unsourced profile from Ohio, I found the ancestor Johann Friedrich Daniel August Erdmann who married Anna Christina Andersen in Copenhagen, Denmark.  I'm completely unfamiliar with the Danish language or the history and geography of Denmark.

So, if anyone would like to take on the Erdmanns and Andersens whose sons removed to Ohio, you're more than welcome to. (There is a possibility that the family moved to Prussia/Germany later on since one of the sons' wives is likely from Germany).

Thanks!  smiley

Hi,

I think this census from 1935 shows Johann with his parents living in the German speaking part of Schleswig-Holstein

Here is the original entry of their wedding:

Here it says that Johann was living in Schwerin, Mecklenburg at that time.

Also the church books with the birth registrations are all from the German church in Copenhagen. I think it is a German family living in Denmark.

Johann is born in 1826. At that time Schleswig-Holstein belonged to Denmark. We lost Schleswig-Holstein to Prussia in 1864.

The state Germany first appeared in 1871.

Therefore it is quite inaccurate to name the birth place as Germany.
