Hi,

I'm looking for help on trying to track down the parents of Jensina Jensen.  I've tried looking through census and church books, but I can't differentiate between the possible matches.  The one piece of information I'm certain about is her emigration record:

Navn: Jensen, Jensine Stilling: Jomfru
Alder: 38 Bestemmelsessted: St. Fransisco
Kontrakt nr.: 163000 Forevisningsdato: 6/7/1884
Sidste oph.sogn: Søllerød Sidste oph. amt: København
Sidste oph.sted: Skodsborg, Kbhvn. Bestemmelses land: USA
Bestemmelses by: San Francisco Bestemmelses stat: Californien
Skibsnavn: Geiser
Bemærkninger: ANM: Geiser. IDkode: D8385J3202

Her birth date is recorded on her gravestone as 6 Sept 1844.  She was my gr-gr-grandfather's second wife.

The family tradition is that she was the sister of his first wife, Ane Kristine.  From their children's baptism records, her name is Jensen, Jensdatter or Jepsen. Her gravestone gives her birth date as 19 March 1823.

Thanks for any guidance.

Found marriage of Hans Christian Theodor Andersen and Ane Kirstine Jepsdatter 15 Feb 1863 no. 13 in Garnisons, Sokkelund, København, Denmark Marriage no. 13

And a possibility to investigate further (common name) Jensine Jensdatter born 6 Sep 1844 Hørsholm, Lynge-Kronborg, Frederiksborg, Denmark no number Birth 6 Sep 1844 Hørsholm is close to Søllerød. Confirmation Hørsholm 1858 no. 11 Confirmation no. 11

Found Jensine Jensen in Skodsborg, Søllerød, Sokkelund, København, Denmark in census 1880 unmarried and born in Hørsholm Census 1880 working for Johan Palle Johnsen.

Must be same Jensine - Jensdatter often changed to Jensen at that time.

Hanne, Thank you!

So if I read this right the parents were Jens Jensen and Lisbeth/Elizabeth Jensdatter.

Godparents/witnesses for baptism, Ane Katherine Handatter (a word I can't read, Lang? maybe a locattion), Hanne Kristine Hansdatter, Jorgen Federsen Sommers (a name or place I can't work out), and Hans Jensen, Horsolm.

With that I'll have to see if I can find her sister's information.  I realized after posting this that I might also be looking for half-sisters, so that might open up possibilities.
Witnesses are Ane Cathrine Hansdatter and Hanne Kirstine Hansdatter from Langstrup. Possibly Lisabeth's sisters? The other people are on the next record.
Thank you. I think if you look closely the two records are kind of blended together (especially if you look at the column for the parents), and somewhat distinguished by the size of the handwriting. That's why I included the other names.

Here's a link to 1850 Census:

Don't see Ane Kirstine there. But if she was born in 1823, she would most likely have moved out by 1850.

I think I've figured it out....Jensine was the sister of his brother's wife (Berthe married to his brother Peter).  She may not be related at all to Ane Kristine (and I think some of the records for her have been mistranscribed as Jensen/Jensdatter instead of Jepsen/Jepsdatter)

Based on age at marriage for Ane Kirstine Jepsdatter your birth year can be off by a few years - worth investigating Ane Kirstine Jepsdatter born 19 Mar 1825 in Tulstrup, Græsted, Holbo, Frederiksborg, Denmark no. 17 Birth 19 Mar 1825

There is a Denmark project with three individuals that could be resources for your question.

First, you can click on Find at the top right of this page. The find menu will open so you can click on Projects. Look down the project list and click on Denmark. Select from the three names associated with the Denmark project.
