After reading about this family in the accounts of Many Trails to Manitou-Wapah a book by the Historical Society of Manitoba[1] I looked into there being a will, proved in England and found that the grandfather of John and his younger brother Samuel was William Favell, farmer from Tipton in county Staffordshire
there is a copy of John Sr.'s apprenticeship certificate at the Beddome genealogy site http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/genealogy/beddome/favell.htm that shows father is William Favell not Edward Favell who is his attached parent
