Which Hoffmans and Werts? Where in Indiana? When in Indiana?
Any idea of approx dates?
Did they live in Boone, Muncie and or Milan Twp, Indiana?

I suspect (based on Penny's change log) that she means profiles like this:

I couldn't find any Hoffmans, so it's possible they're in an unlisted profile or connected through an unlisted.

Jesse Marion Wert - born 22 April 1883 in Bucyrus, Crawford Ohio (some sources claim he was born in Christianburg, Champaign, Pickaway, Ohio) - died about 1958 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana (some sources claim 3 May 1961 was his date of death)

Son of Sanford/Sanfort Wert and unknown Torkey or Sallie Ann Lahey (although several sources point to a Sallie Ann Lokey)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "Ancestral File," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:1:MCPL-Z2D : accessed 24 October 2018), entry for Jesse Marion WERT (28Z0-Z72); submitted by djraper815861 [identity withheld for privacy]

Married Elsie Terrell on 11 Oct 1905 in Marion, Indiana.

"Indiana Marriages, 1780-1992," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XFNH-9XZ : 10 February 2018), Jesse M. Wert and Elsie Terrell, 11 Oct 1905; citing reference pg 40 rn 461; FHL microfilm 413,542.

He is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis

"Find A Grave Index," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVK2-MJMT : 13 December 2015), Jesse Marion Wert, ; Burial, Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States of America, Crown Hill Cemetery; citing record ID 46045593, Find a Grave, http://www.findagrave.com.

It is interesting that various records show his birth date as 4 Dec 1882, 22 Apr 1883, and 1 Dec 1883. There appears to be some discrepancy in the records on this.

I do find evidence of a Sanford Wert, born according to some records around 1853 - however, I also find a marriage record between Sanford Wert and Sallie Ann Lokey on 23 October 1856 in Champaign, Ohio. Puzzling.

If she was age 16-18 in 1856, and Jesse was born 1883, that would make her 43 at his time of birth, possibly 45. Not out of the realm of possibility, but definitely near the end of her child bearing years. The vague reference (un-sourced, of course) shows her birth year as 1861, which would not match with the marriage record found.

"Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-2013," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XZK7-TR6 : 10 December 2017), Sanford Wert and Sarah Ann Lokey, 23 Oct 1856; citing Champaign, Ohio, United States, reference p 31 cn 6498; county courthouses, Ohio; FHL microfilm 295,229.

I see other potential children born approx 1855, 1861, 1862, and 1871. (Theodore, William C. Bird or Bernside).

One researcher noted him as Sanford Thomas Wert, born January 1830 in New Jersey, died on (unknown date) in Champaign, Ohio. Seems to be quite a bit of confusion here. While all this has the potential to point to the same person, I'm now on the alert of possible conflation issues.

Following this last researcher's line of thinking, Sanford's father is noted as Daniel Wert.

born 10 March 1805 in New Jersey. His father isn't listed on Family Search. Struck out with rootsweb for clues.

Closest I could find on Geni was this vague profile:

https://www.geni.com/people/DANIEL-WERT/6000000006903358019

I couldn't find any clues on My Heritage. I'm out of ideas for the moment on where to chase this potential line. I'll think a bit more and see if something pops out.

Of course, with little sourcing to go on, this might be a bit of a red herring, but worth proving or disproving as the case may be.
Thank you. Yes Elsie and Jessie were my great grandparents and a lot of my family is buried at Crown Hill. I don't believe that Sanford was Jessie father, but I can't say for sure. You have definitely given me some place to go though. Thank you so much
