Should the 1st wife of Thomas Skidmore be Ellen (Unknown)?

A couple of different maiden names for 1st wife, Ellen, have been proposed, including Whitehead and Prigg.  As far as I can tell, both are without any evidence.  Both Jacobus and Torrey report her as Ellen _______.

1.  Should we create a profile for Ellen (Unknown)?

2.  If so, should we merge the profiles for Ellen Whitehead and for Ellen Pigg into the new Ellen (Unknown)?  Of course, if either of them actually existed, we want to retain them, and detach the marriage. Currently, neither has a source which points to any evidence (just family tradition or trees, etc).

I'm not familiar with the family and don't have time to do real research right now.  So, thank you in advance for your help.

HI Cynthia,

I'm in no way an expert on situations like this however what I might suggest is changing the profile that appears to be correct to the Last Name as Unknown. If indeed there is no sources to support that LNAB and than I would merge the other profiles into the unknown instead of creating a separate Unknown
I see that 1.5 years later, no change was made.  Lacking a valid source, her LNAB should be Unknown.

If you can find this, it might be helpful

Thomas Skidmore (Scudamore), 1605-1684, of Westerleigh, Gloucestershire,
and Fairfield, Connecticut; his ancestors and his descendants to the
ninth generation.
First edition, 1980
Second edition, 1985

By Warren Skidmore

Found it on line

It says his first wife's last name was PROBABLY Prigg.

It also suggests that his SON, another Thomas Whitehead, married a Whitehead.

Yes, I think her last name should be Unknown, with Pigg and Whitehead both shown in the bio with their respective "sources" of conjecture shown.

S Willson, as a project leader, you (or another PGM project leader) should go ahead and make this change; this issue has been sitting unresolved for over four years (and now there's a duplicate).
These two profiles have now been merged into Ellen Unknown Skidmore
