Without a doubt, Sherman Andrew Miller is related to the Swafford family of Tennessee.
The parentage of Sherman Miller is confusing for me. Though DNA shows a connection to both of his mother's parents, I have found none tying him to the Miller family.
A big problem is that I have been unable to identify any living descendents of Sherman's siblings.
I NEED HELP TRACING HIS SIBLINGS AND FINDING THEIR DESCENDANTS.
Also, I have been unable to find the parents for his father on any census records, and I do not know who his paternal grandparents are. It is possible one is a Swafford. If not, it seems that his father was not John Manson Miller and instead one of the Swafford clan.
I NEED HELP FINDING HIS PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, SPECIFICALLY THE MAIDEN NAME OF HIS PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER.
The idea that he had a different father than John Manson Miller is supported by a biography of John Manson Miller which stated regarding his marriage to Malissa Stiles:
:: "Six children came to bless the union, four of them boys and two girls. All except one daughter are living."
This number is different from what I know of the family history.
I have actual photographs of William, John, Julius and Elijah, the four boys.
I was able to follow the two youngest to their death, but the two oldest I have been unable to trace.
I have also been unable to trace the daughters, nor have I found any photographs of them.
There is a slight possiblity that the Miller family is of German descent and the name could be a variation of Mueller or Matmiller. This is based on the the fact we have a cousin of some connection [[Hults-13|Lena]] who identified a man in their household as an uncle [[Matmiller-8|Joseph Matmiller]]
