Henry C. Marcell (Marcell-16) is my GG Grandfather born about 1805 Maryland dies 1856 Nashville, Tennessee. Father of 5 kids all born in Charleston from 1833-1841. He marries a Sarah Lawrence Parker (Parker-28724) about 1832 in Charleston. Her father was Samuel Parker 1768-1830 who dies in Charleston living at #6 (8) George Street home of the historical house called the Sarah Lawrence house today. Her mother was Elizabeth Helen Lawrence 1781-1869. She was the daughter of Jonathon Lawrence 1748-1782. Died as a result of imprisonment during the Revolutionary War. His wife was Sarah Daniel, 1760-1842 and they were married on May 1, 1777 Charleston. She was the GG Granddaughter of Governor/Landgrave Robert Daniell 1724-1789.

My help needed is anyone in the Charleston area have access to any records that might prove my Marcell family was in Charleston area between 1830-1840 time frame. Henry Marcell was an educated man, Justice of the Peace, Civil Engineer and at one time an educator at a college in Georgia. The family seemed to be well connected in Charleston as many cousins stayed there and became prominent citizens in Charleston. I am also trying to find baptism, marriage, info for any of Henry's children.

Also any proof that Elizabeth Helen Lawrence was the daughter of Jonathon Lawrence and  Sarah Daniell. Also they were all Catholic in the 1850's in Tennessee. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You might try contacting the South Carolina Historical Society in Charleston.  Their archives have a wealth of material on South Carolina, including Charleston.  I found their staff very friendly and helpful when I did research there several years ago.  I do not know what their policy is for written request.  Here is a link to their website: https://schistory.org/

You might also try doing an online search at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History. This site can be searched using surnames. The online records can sometimes turn up items that are not available via the internet but can be ordered from the Archives.  Here is a link to their website: https://scdah.sc.gov/research-and-genealogy/online-research

Thank you Carol and I will try to contact them. I hope to visit Charleston in the near future and I will see what I can find out.

I took a look at the profiles and I think they could use some organization - I'm having trouble following the chronology in Henry and Sarah's profiles. I'm also confused, you say Henry and Sarah's children were born in Charleston but their profiles don't all say Charleston, and some of the census evidence has them in other states.

Hello Kathryn, Thank you for taking a look and yes they sure could use some work as most of mine need. Many of them were moved over from Family Tree Maker a few years ago and Have been more interested in adding new family members it seems. One of these days I hope to get around to the organization of my data.

You are also correct in the birthplace of the kids. The first 3 were born in Charleston, 4th in Georgia and 5th going to work on that one now. In all the years I have been doing this I have never found anything mentioning a Marcell in Charleston to tie this all together. As prominet as her family was I would think a marriage announcement would have been published along with a church record.

Anyway, Thanks again for looking at my mess and I promise I will get around to cleaning it up next time I drop Ancestry.

Hello, I ran across a book that may be helpful in your search: https://atlantahistorycenter.on.worldcat.org/oclc/36071780
Hello Kathryn, Thanks you so much for that information on the book in Georgia. I just drove through Atlanta yesterday and wish I had read emails while on vacation so I could have stopped there. I will contact them but have a feeling I will have to go there to see it. I do appreciate your help and if I can ever do anything in Florida for you please ask.

John
