FamilySearch down? [closed]

For about 24 hours now I have been experiencing great difficulties on the website FamilySearch. Some of the time the site is completely inaccessible and I get a message about a "gateway timeout". The rest of the time the pages only partially load and are extremely slow. I live in New Zealand, and this error has persisted on 3 different WiFi networks. I have also just downloaded Firefox (I'd been using Chrome) and got the same problem. There's no announcements on FamilySearch's twitter or facebook pages about any problems with their website. Not having a social media account, I'm unable to contact FamilySearch about this. I'm not having any problems with any other websites

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Possibly the impact of so many Wikitreers overloading it during the Clean-a-thon.

From the sounds of it, you may be facing a DNS issue. I would suggest clearing your DNS cache (if you are comfortable with doing so).

Also, it is handy to use tools like IsItDownRightNow to check and see if the website is encountering issues, or if it yourself having issues. According to the site, their last reported downtime was more than a week ago.

I have used it off and on for well over 24 hours with no problem so I do not think it is them but rather something on your end.
