Hi:  Benjamin Clement/s married Mary (Baker?), son of Benjamin Clement/s Sr., of Pittsylvania, VA married Susanna Hill has been proven through Y-DNA at FTDNA.   I also had a male cousin of my father, Robert Leroy Clements test for Y-DNA and it was proven that we Belong to Group #12, John Clements Married Elizabeth (Terry?), Hanover County, VA, Their son, William Clement/s married Ann (Parker?), Amelia County, VA and their son Capt. Benjamin  Clement/s, Sr. I married Susanna Hill, of Pittsylvania  Co., VA and their son, Benjamin Clement/s, Jr. II married Mary (Baker?) and 2nd wife Sarah Bailey who died in Harrison County, KY 1813, Their son Benjamin Clement/s, Jr. III married Lucy Bailey, died Pendleton Co., KY 1836, Their Son, Benjamin Clement/s, IV married Cordelia Delila Race, Who died in 1849, Pendleton Co., KY (according to their son Ebenezer's Civil War Pension File) Benjamin and Cordelia's son William Clement/s married Julia  Ann  Angell, died 1898, Schuyler County, IL whose son George  Riley Clement married Isdora Howell, my Great Grandparents, George died in Schuyler County, IL and their son Oscar Clement/s married Mary Etta Lorng, My Grand Parents gave birth to my Father: Robert Leroy Clements.  Through my father's cousin, Kenneth Clements Y-DNA was proven through FTDNA back 2005.  I have proof documentation wise, but also I have myself have been connecting with many of the wives of these men's through Autosomal DNA, 23andMe, Ged-match and FTDNA,  At least up to Cordelia Delia Race wife of Benjamin Clement/s IV Great Grandparents.  I connect Autosomal YDNA with Cordelia Race's Parents at least twice now.   I believe I am connecting with Lucy Bailey too, but do not know her parents, so it makes it hard to make a Autosomal  DNA Match without knowing the Paper trail.   Anyway, here is the YDNA Results connection for Group # 12.  I think it will help clear up the Clement/s line some.  https://www.familytreedna.com/public/ClementsClemmonsDNA/

Kit: 110166 is my cousins kit # to be able to see the results at FTDNA

If any one has question, I would be more than willing to post documents and help with this line and yes to answer another question about whether the last name Clement is the same as Clements with and is is YES in many documents for this family its was either spelled Clement or Clements both was correct.   In my family there was always a story about the why the "S" was dropped or added, something about a family argument, who knows if it is true or not BUT documentation going back to John Clement the first in the line of YDNA of Hanover County, VA you will find that documents use both spellings and even some other spellings.  Early documents did much of the spelling of a name by how it was pronounced and how the transcriber of the document heard it.  So, spelling did change a bit from document to document.  Hope this helps.  :-)

Thank you for this, I descend from Benjamin Clement and Mary Baker through Rachel Clement who married Henry H Combs. I have been so confused with all the Benjamin’s. Seems like every branch of my tree is complicated. I have Bass, Evans, 5 lines of Gibson, including the Melungeon Gibsons, Moores that turned out to be a Jackson instead. The Melungeon Collins I thought but turned out not biological, my 3x great grandfather was raised by Collins and adopted the surname.

My linage is Isaac Clement 1812 & Martha Patsy Allen, son of Daniel Clement 1784 & Wilmouth Irby, son of Capt, Isaac Clement 1733 and Ann Denham, son of Capt. Benjamin Clement & Susanna Hill, son of William Clement 1681 & Ann, son of John Clement. A Mike Hill contacted me in 2008 questioning if Susanna Hill was the sister of John Hill son of John Hill 1680 Hanover County.  He said that Isham Clement nephew of Benj & Susannah appraiser of John Hill's estate.

I would like to here about more of this.  I believe DNA is going to be are proof of who Susanna Hill is really related to.  Either Isaac Hill and Margaret Jennings of King and Queen, or John Hill  and Elizabeth _ _ _ _? of Hanover County, VA.  Past researchers have said the first Isaac and Margaret were Susanna Hills parents, but they also had made many wrong corrections amongst all the Clements of Virginia and YDNA has helped to break all those bad matches. I believe as more and more "Hill" descendants do Male YDNA testing and all the hill lines get put in there proper place that Susanna Hill will also find her correct family through Autosomal DNA.  But it's going to take more people testing doing both YDNA and Autosomal DNA.  A latest Book that has come out on John Hill of Hanover County That you may want to get. . ."Hill Family Research" by Carl H. Leonard.   It is his believe of the descendents of John Hill of Hanover County, VA.
