Advice before editing this pre-1700 Clement profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of Robert Clement. This is what I can add:

  • The current profile shows that he was born in 1665 in Grand Island.  Using the AntiMap program, it shows that Grand Island was in Suffolk, New Plymouth Colony, gained from Rhode Island.  Is it appropriate to change his birth location to "Grand Island, Suffolk, New Plymouth Colony.  The closest listing in the location listings is  "Great Island, Lakeville, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony (1691-1776)  This would be a new location entry.

These are the sources I am using:

  • Antimap   https://animap.us/#home

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Unfortunately, that profile is completely unsourced -- there's no indication of where any of the data came from. Determining the location of "Great Island" might provide clues on where to look for records or other sources. Beyond that, I wouldn't devote a whole lot of effort to precisely defining the geography of the claimed place of his birth. Put a higher priority on finding reliable sources for him.

It seems much more likely that Robert is the Robert Clement born in Haverhill, MA in 1665, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Clement.

FamilySearch has a book on the descendants of Robert Clement, one of the first settlers of Haverhill at Ancestors and descendants of Robert Clements of Leicestershire and Warwickshire, England : first settler of Haverhill, Massachusetts (familysearch.org)

This book states that Robert who married Deliverance was the grandson of the Robert who was the original settler.  Robert, son of Robert, is named in a 1673 will and in land records among other documents.
