This lady I beleive should fit into my family tree, but I can't find a missing link.
In the 1861 census she has a grandaughter living with her, so she is presumably the mother of one of Esther Todd's parents.
It could be Edwin Todd-4909, but I think I have his parents correctly. It is more likely to be his wife, Ann Maria Brown-50560. Of course she has some problems of her own..... I have the marriage certificate for Edwin and Ann Maria. It says she is a spinster, so Brown is her maiden name. the name of her father, however, is given as George Cross..... you see why I am confused! I assume she is illegitimate and mother's maiden name is presumably Brown and this other Ann Maria is probably her mother, but I can't find the missing piece of the puzzle.
William Calvert was a few years older that Ann Maria and he had been in the army, so this might have been a later life marriage. I've got them in 1851, but not for 1841 and I couldn't see a marraige record I though was correct.
Any assistance appreciated!
