How can I delete a sibling?

When I attempted to merge McElreath-21 and McElreath-24 I found that somehow I had entered the profile information of that person as a sibling.  This is on both of them.  When I attempted to remove this incorrect information, I can't just delete it, I have to change the parents.  Since the sibling is the duplicate of the profile person, I don't know how to resolve this. Help!

No worries - we've all added people that we needed to change later. So the easiest thing to do would be to re-use that profile for another relative. If you don't have another relative in mind at the moment, then you would just need to remove all the links to it.

So for the first, just go into the profile and edit all the information to make it into the other relative (change the name, birth date/place, biography, etc.). Then change the parents to the new parents for the new person. And remove any spouses or children that might not be needed.

Or just remove parents, spouses, and children and set it aside so that you can use it at a later time.

I know all this might sound confusing, but WikiTree does not have a delete feature so merging or deleting is the only way to handle eliminating a duplicate.

Although merging still appears to be an option here - the two profiles look the same, should merge just fine - have you proposed a merge between the two? (from your comment above, it appears you have)

I'd go ahead and do a merge - it will merge the siblings together and you should be in great shape after!

Changing all the information in a profile, essentially starting the profile anew, is hardly a no worry, easy solution, especially when there are embedded items, links etc in the profile.  A simple solution would be for wikitree to universally add the remove relationship ability to siblings, as it has it for parents, spouses and children.

Wikitree has otherwise programmed their platform beautifully, so why allow this glitch to continue.  Fix it please.
