How to add sibling when parents are pre 1700

Question

I am trying to add siblings to an ancestor but it won't allow me to add existing profiles. Probably because his parents are pre 1700. They aren't on the tree. Do I leave them unconnected OR add a new profile and then merge.

Could it be possible that those profiles have their privacy too high and are not allowing it? Or that these are identified as a protected profile?

I see that you have the Pre-1700 badge, so just that they are pre-1700 shouldn't be an issue.

Ideally the linkage is made and they are not left unconnected, and adding a new profile and merging is basically extra work.

You should add or connect parents to your ancestor before trying to add siblings.  But you won't be able to connect siblings as such if they have parents already.

Basically, focus on the parent connections and the siblings will come out automatically.

"Add sibling" is only useful for creating new siblings, and then it means "create new child for same parents".

Thanks. I did add the parents and and it still didn't allow me to add existing profiles as siblings so then I tried adding them as children of the parents. This did work.
