Why won't the system let me create profile for my gr-grand dad w/o birth date? Is there a minimum for info?

The birth date is required.  You can make an educated guess.  Put a note in the notes:  Birthdate is a complete guess or Birth date is based on (other information) -- where other information is spouse's info, date of kids' birth, etc.  You can always go back and edit later when you get better info.

If you know where your grandfather is buried, take the birth date on his gravemarker. Is there an obituary or is he in the 1940 census ? The more accuracy, the better for the family tree (-:

Birth date OR death date is requiered when creating a new profile.

If you know the date of his dead the system will let you create his profile w/o his birth date.

That has not been my experience. Even when I know the birth date, the system won't let me enter the profile without the death date.
