Hello Anonymous,

I'm not sure I understand  your question right. But I looked into the profile of George Lindsay and it s a GEDCOM uploaded profile without any sources.

I wonder now why you ask. Do you have good sources for that profile? It is an open profile. So if you re a WikiTree member and signed the Honorcode you will be encouraged to add good sources please. If you can you will be a great add to WikiTree!

It happens so many times at WikiTree. People added profiles from GEDCOMS in history without sources. GEDCOMS are now more restricted.

We re all volunteers Anonymus. We re working on our own family and helping others, cleaning up and/or sourcing these profiles.

But I think you understand that sometimes people uploaded thousends profiles with many unsourced profiles and left after uploading. Some might even be duplicates as they do not have enough dates they re shown as duplicates. Please jump in. Get rid of your present name and help us build THE WORLD-WIDE-FREE-TREE!  I am so proud of to be a part of.

I m only here since August. Still finding things out and making mistakes. Running too fast sometimes as I like to change the world and help everyone at the same time. But there are so many helpfull people here. If you have time and you have evidence or sources or whatever: Welcome at WikiTree!

Obvious the profile manager is working on it Anonymous.

CITING THIS RECORD

"Scotland Marriages, 1561-1910," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTYZ-VJZ : accessed 9 January 2016), George Lindsay and Janet Gold, 13 Sep 1807; citing Carmichael,Lanark,Scotland, reference ; FHL microfilm 1,042,969, 102,893.

Only found marriage record yet without an image so I m not 100% sure it s right.

Reconsider it a puzzle; the source might be right or wrong....... "Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYN2-M9T : accessed 9 January 2016), Mary Ogilvy in entry for Elspit Lindsay, 09 Sep 1764; citing CORTACHY AND CLOVA,ANGUS,SCOTLAND, reference ; FHL microfilm 993,416.

We just don t know :)

"Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYN2-K8G : accessed 9 January 2016), Mary Ogilvy in entry for Thomas Lindsay, 10 Dec 1766; citing CORTACHY AND CLOVA,ANGUS,SCOTLAND, reference ; FHL microfilm 993,416.

Up to us to puzzle and use common sense if it fits.

"Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYN2-K8G : accessed 9 January 2016), Mary Ogilvy in entry for Thomas Lindsay, 10 Dec 1766; citing CORTACHY AND CLOVA,ANGUS,SCOTLAND, reference ; FHL microfilm 993,416.

This one doesn t fit on dates:

"Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYJW-S5B : accessed 9 January 2016), Mary Ogilvy in entry for Margaret Paterson, 05 Oct 1849; citing , reference ; FHL microfilm 993,434.

Just, Please feel welcome to solve the puzzle. :D

Kind regards from the Netherlands.

Hi everyone,

I just noticed this thread attached to George Lindsay's profile.  I posted a message regarding this back in January 2017 on his profile, but haven't received any responses.  I have since been hunting for further information and believe I have found the correct information for his parents.

I posted again on his profile today before I noticed the thread.  The source I believe applies to this George Lindsay is located at:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYMG-P8W?from=lynx1&treeref=LDPB-ZZS

The above record is attached to the following FamilySearch FamilyTree profile, which is the same George Lindsay, though some of the profile information appears to have been updated over time with incorrect information...

https://familysearch.org/tree/person/LDPB-ZZS/details

It has the same birth date as is listed on this profile, which matches up with the 1841 Census for birth year.

While there is no 100% way of knowing that the birth place/date of this profile belongs to this George Lindsay, it makes the most sense for the options available and also follows the naming conventions of the time.

Thoughts?
