It could be but I have not really worked on this part of my family tree. Barbara Schmitt was the first wife of my great-grandfather Joseph Oswald; she died and he married my great-grandmother and then had my grandmother. Therefore the Schmitts are not blood relatives but I do include them as I do others because the are truly part of my family tree. I do know that George Anton Schmitt did live with Joseph and Barbara Oswald in Pittsburgh, PA USA and can be found on the 1870s census. I also know that he was buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. I would be happy to work with you on this part of my tree if you do think they are the same person!
