This photo is of a bunch of kids in our neighbourhood, riding one girl's horse, Lucky.

Front to back - Leonie Desjardins, Melanie Martin, Janice Milledge, me, Heather Jensen.

I don't remember that we actually rode anywhere, although Leonie only lived 4 houses away.  We may have just all climbed on for the photo-op.  laugh

In May 1981, while we were preparing a garden, Kathy was called to a photo shoot, of her mother's children, for her mother's birthday present.   The photographer saw, playing in a nearby park, the 'blended' family of children, of Kathy and I, and invited us to an additional photo shoot.

by John Thompson G2G6 Pilot (359k points)

John, I had to take a “double take” of your wonderful photo and read your answer twice, because I thought Kathy was one of the children.wink

Alexis, Kathy's mother, Margaret, having passed away 15 Dec 2023 at age 96, by coincidence, I was able to post this photo on her 97th birthday, 4 May 2024, as her ashes were being laid to rest in the cemetery in Quesnel.......and yes, Kathy had to go another year, 'til '82, before she stopped getting asked for I.D. laugh

These are the 3 oldest Archer brothers.  The oldest one on the right, Harley Archer was my mom's favorite cousin.  Even though he was 19 years older than my mom, he always made time for her and took her for rides on his motorcycle every time he would visit.  I love the haircuts and the outfits.  They are adorable.

I love the look on the middle boy's face!surprise

This is about 1917, a picture of my grandmother (in the middle) and her two siblings. Grandma's hair is still growing back after she and her cousin found some scissors and decided to give each other a haircut.

Rob, we had the same experience in my family except it was my brother cutting my hair, i was 2, while the neighbour leaned out of her window and shouted 'You horrible boy, stop immediately"

He didn't!
My brother and I did the same thing to my hair when we were 4 and 5 years old.  I don't remember doing it. Only found out about it when I commented that my brother looked cute in a picture and my mom said "No, that's you after you and your brother cut your hair."

This is one of my favorite pictures. It is of my grandfather, Rodney, and his twin brother, Royce, taken about 1936 in Preble County, Ohio.

Here's my submission! This little gem was taken in the March of 1989 at my cousin's christening by one of my aunts. She wanted to get a picture of us grandkids with our grandparents. That's me on the far right trying to do bunny ears. My grandparents Robert Hamel and Natalie Felker are front and center trying to corral the motley crew.

Funny story. My aunt first shared this on Facebook years later and my brother ,who is the guy in the shades btw, was like "OH MY GOD!!" My aunt replied saying "Too cool for school, eh, James?"

I think we all were that day. Ahh, the late '80s....

Here's a photo of the Miller children at the Cannon schoolhouse about 1885. The town of Cannon used to be east of Van Alstyne, Texas.

The names are: James, Jacob, John, and Lula.

James is my gg grandfather.

This is my grandfather's younger siblings. I love this pair of pictures. It's unusual to see an old photo of a crying child, and I especially love the hand gesture and the expression on the face of the child on the right.

And now she's all better!

Fortune of a Little Girl-

You will live in this house that your Father built, until you grow old.  Your Father will die suddenly one night in this house from Pneumonia.  You will marry and have three boys, but your husband will die young, leaving you with three young boys to raise.  You will raise the three boys in this house first with the help of your widowed Mother and later with the help of your Brother Joe.  Your middle son will leave home seeking his fortune and trade a train ticket for a ride home in a flying machine on Halloween Eve.  The plane will crash and he will not return home alive.  Your youngest son will leave home to fight in a World War, but return home safely.  This old house will be returned to the earth in 1965.  You will have 9 grand children, 14 great grand children and 15 great-great grand children.

This is my paternal grandmother Margaret Shirley KELLER.  I was very close to her all of my life.  I was the oldest grandchild of her and my grandfather James Henry WILSON.

This is a photograph of my grandfather, Louis K. Randall, taken about 1919 in Phoenix, Arizona. My grandfather was an elderly man when I knew him, yet I still recognize his face in this picture.

I'm sharing "Picnic at Small's Farm ca. 1921". It includes my maternal grandmother Marjorie Olney who is #28 in photo. Marjorie's mother Josephine Mabel Dyer is #20. Marjorie's father George W. Olney Jr is #16. Marjorie's maternal grandfather Eugene Howard Dyer is #2.

Everyone in the photo taken near Minneapolis (Brooklyn) had some sort of connection to Maine, most recently in Aroostook County, where Eugene was a "Maine Guide" early in life. (Greetings to Houlton, ME and hope this year's Eclipse was good to you!)

My grandmother was a Dyer-Olney. Her Dyer line goes back to Will Dyer and wife Mary Barrett Dyer, the Quaker Martyr. Her Olney line is that of Thomas Olney, one of the Original Proprietors of Providence RI with Roger Williams.

The photo was the impetus for the project that got my mom and some cousins started on research that I've been able to continue in a "Small" way, making contact with many distant relatives in Maine and Massachusetts. Plus it's just a GREAT photo. So many characters. I loved family reunions growing up, but most were with my Pudas family, and I'm now uncovering some of the many stories that so many on wikitree have added to profiles of our common PGM ancestors and Mayflower people on my mom's side.

Well I saw the photo in perhaps the right spot but then (as usual) got confused when I did the Reply here but no photo. And then my Reply disappeared after that. Too many pages open perhaps. Anyway, "Picnic at Small's Farm ca 1921" is the photo that hooked my mom and cousins into doing more research. It was taken near Minneapolis, in Brooklyn MN.

My grandmother Marjorie Olney (Olney-1559) is #28. She was a Dyer-Olney of those original prominent PGM colonists Will and Mary Dyer (Mary the Quaker Martyr) and Thomas Olney, one of the original proprietors of Providence RI with Roger Williams.

It looks like a fun picnic!
