Pages not loading reliably

Recently I've been having a great deal of difficulty with WikiTree pages not loading.

I click on a link (on WikiTree or elsewhere) or enter the URL in the search bar and click, then the page name appears at the top of the screen and the little wheel starts spinning -- and continues to spin forever. This doesn't happen consistently (sometimes a page loads instantly, and sometimes it loads after a very short delay), but it is happening so often that it has become difficult for me to contribute. This isn't happening across the rest of the Internet (other than sometimes on FamilySearch, which has had this issue for a long time).

I have often encountered pages loading slowly. That's not been happening recently... Now they often aren't loading at all! I wonder if there was a recent technical change at WikiTree that affects page loading.

I'm seeing this in Firefox 124.0.1 64-bit, under Windows 11, with the WikiTree Browser Extension. Pages do load promptly on my Android phone.

I sometimes experience this as well.

Often I experience better loading performance if I completely shut down everything and re boot the dang computer.

You will have to try some things to identify the issue. I'm sure it is with your configuration.

Turn off the extensions. Try another browser. Clear the cashe. Clear the cookies.

I’ve experienced some pages loading very, very slowly. When it happens it is usually in the morning (Pacific time zone). I’ve tried a number of things, and ultimately I just have to wait for it to resolve. I’m using Safari on an iPad with the latest iOS. I don’t recall when it started, but it has been happening for sometime. There have been some other performance issues as well. WikiTree is the only site that demonstrates this behavior.
Ellen, are your computer and phone using the same Internet service provider, or different ones (broadband versus cellular for example)? If the same, that implicates something on your computer, for example one of the items Dave mentions. If different, it's less clear cut.
@Dave: I have lots of experience rebooting or turning things off to improve performance. Because this is a new pattern of misbehavior that is specific to WikiTree, I was wondering whether something had changed at WikiTree recently that might be causing it.

@Jim: Phone usually is on WiFi, using the same Internet provider as the computer.
