PROOF FOUND!  I came across this photo of a hand drawn Breckenridge family tree. I included the source so everyone can check out the wealth of information there. At the top you will see the names of the Breckenridge brothers, Alexander (my ancestor) with some tree info.;  William, who looks like was the one rumored to be killed by Indians; and James (whom I'm assuming the Bible referred to is from his branch of the family.)

You will see I added info to the picture in a blank space that identifies the SOURCE, so others can find this wealth of Breckenridge family history too.

Thanks. I just assumed people would know to find it under the profile at the bottom.  I guess this shows we should never assume... right! wink

Well, there are a great number of Newts getting involved now, which is a good thing.wink  For those who wonder how to post a picture from anyone's page (as long as it isn't locked)

1. Click on the picture

2. Click on the picture again (yes again)

3. The picture is displayed on a black background.  Copy the URL Address

4. Click on Answer or in this case I choose Reply this time:

5 Open the picture ICON when typing a message:

Paste the URL address in the field

Adjust the image WIDTH to less than 500

6. Click OK

Easy Peasy!wink

THANKS!

Hello,

Sorry, but your photo isn’t ‘proof’.

The tree you have shown is unsourced. It looks to be early 20th century(?) and the events you are trying to prove are outside the creators memory.

We have no idea if this is a tree backed up by research or a copy of someone else’s mistakes.

An unsourced paper tree is no more valid than an unsourced online tree.

Thanks for the directions to a site that shares family bibles though. What a good idea.

The source was part of the Bible. The name on the letterhead helps date it.  And personally, I wouldn't think anyone would keep an unimportant note in their Bible, of their linage. But that's OK not to accept as an acceptable (family tradition) source ... instead you might consider it a helpful lead.

"Found in the Bible" means the family had recorded births, deaths and marriages of family members in their Bibles. It used to be a common practice for family Bibles to be printed with pages designed for that specific purpose.

It DOES NOT mean the Breckenridge name was mentioned in the Bible.
