Hi Wikitreers,

Let’s see if we can connect the genealogy behind the vintage antique post card in my collection.

I have in my vintage antique post card collection a post card dated August 20, 1937 appears to be sent to a William “Billie” J. Halste at Bronx, N.Y sent at 5pm per postage stamp date.

We need collaboration in transcription of the hand writing in the body of the card and connecting this person

1.) Who was the sender “Allie”?

2.) Who was A.M. Rich?

3.) Who was Billie Halste? Is there a 1920/1930 census of him in Bronx?

4.) Is “Halste” the correct spelling of LNAB?

5.) interesting clues top of card back side has Wallingford, Conn and East Hampton, Ct

Note: An Ada is mentioned in the bio of card. It appears A. M. Rich, Allie from Wallingford Conn sent this 80 plus year old card to Wm. G. Halste 3225 Grand concource Apt 5-a in Bronx NY on August 20, 1937.

Any collaboration is appreciated

Thank you

Hi Roger,

Definitely 100% match. Thank you maybe we can get him connected now. yes

Thank you

Still would be interesting to find who the “Love Allie” was in relation to him.
His sister Julia E. Holste was single and working as a high school teacher in the Bronx in 1950 they lived together. Same household. Interesting I can’t find any of their graves yet

The story is becoming more sad the daughter Sophie died in 1908 as well short obit gives date and place I’ll place source on her profile

Update: Sophie F. Holste who died in 1908 at age 68 can’t be her as she was alive in 1910 census but similar name middle initial isn’t a match.

Found her death record she passed December 3, 1928 buried in Woodlawn cemetery updated her profile

Germany, Holste name distribution map 1890:

https://nvk.genealogy.net/map/1890:Holste

Probably needs further research on US records to locate birth place in Germany…

It appears his parents names were a Dietrich Holste, and his mother, Marie Wagner fathers name might be misspelled

Edit: I added the father and mother it appears possibly Baden, Germany is where the mother Marie Wagner was born but needs researching and connecting plus his siblings profiles need to be created as his brother is mentioned in the vintage card

Found Diedrich Holste Obit short but gives date of death and location. Source provided on his profile
