Unusual duplicated NSW marriage certificate

I have encountered something new to me, at least, in trying to add sources for a number of second and third-degree relatives.

I have two sources for Ivy Hannah Newham,  Newham-366, namely a NSW birth certificate (23782/1897) and marriage certificate (9778/1938). The latter is duplicated in a way I've not encountered before:

9778/1938 MARSH FREDERICK CHARLES JOYCE IVY HANNAH HURSTVILLE and
9778/1938 MARSH FREDERICK CHARLES NEWHAM IVY HANNAH HURSTVILLE

Is anyone able to clue me in as to what I'm looking at here? My best guess is that the register was filled in incorrectly and then a second, correct entry was then recorded, but I haven't had a certificate number return two entries before.

Thanks in advance!
