John Van Hussen, soldier in 1814, Royal Artillery, needs more data

John Van Hussen buried his wife in 1814 in Montréal.  He is listed as a private in the Royal Artillery then.  All evidence points to his being the same man who was father of Catherine and Hannah.  Need some help on figuring out where he might have come from.  He was able to sign, quite nicely, always with this name, although his family members get the name mangled repeatedly.  Also need to find data on his wife's family name, as we only have her given name so far.

Any help appreciated.

Addition:  Found record of military service, just a summary from UK archives at Kew.  On profile in research notes.  Anybody live in Kew who could look this up on location?  The record is not digitalized.
