Nannie (Branch-2209) shows up for the first time as a servant in the household of Houland in the 1900 census in Dunklin, Missouri. She appears in the 1910 census as a boarder in the home Hulan. I have sourced her throughout the rest of her life but can not find her parents.
She was married to William Thomas Pender. Her first two sons are placed with another couple named John and Molly Evans in Ballard Kentucky and listed as nephews-in-law on the 1910 census. Later, William (Thomas) shows up in the 1920 Census in Dunklin as a cousin of the Hawkins family and again in 1930 as a nephew in the home of John and Molly Evens in New Madrid, Missouri, but I've not been able to trace that family either.
On her death certificate, her father's name is "Billie Branch." There was a William A Branch in the area at the time, but I do not believe they are related after tracing his marriages and children. (While getting my thoughts together I found another clue on FAG that may negate the last statement!) There is another Nancy Branch in the area as well, not old enough to be mom.
Nannie's death certificate has her name as Mary, but I am sure that this represents Nannie. Her mother's name is very hard to read, I have searched many variations.
My questions are: Who are Nannie's parents? Who are the Evans? Is Nannie related to the Houland/Hulans or Hawkins?
With all these last names, I should be able to piece together this mystery but have been unable to so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
