I've just created a profile for Lowitja O'Donoghue, who sadly died yesterday at the age of 91.

Inaugural chairperson of the Aborigianal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), she was an outstanding spokesperson for her community.

A great loss.

Sad news for Australians of all stripes. No doubt Lowitja was a great Australian and she will be missed by Aussies now and in the future. sad Thanks Gillian for your foresight in creating a WikiTree profile for such a deserving citizen of our country.

Well said. All is not lost. I am very impressed by our local leaders in the Noongar community.
