I'd appreciate any help, as I can't find it.

You could try the Bibliothèque at Archives Nationales de Quebec, and specifically their genealogical database : https://www2.banq.qc.ca/archives/genealogie_histoire_familiale/ressources/bd/

It's not exhaustive, but I've had some success finding people there.

slight correction, that should read Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec.  de denotes the city whereas du denotes the province.

It's a good resource, not always indexed, so one has to know approximate dates and locations.  FamilySearch also has a whole section devoted to this province.

For Ontario you can try Family Search. That is a free database.

https://www.familysearch.org/en/

The amount of details you find will also depend on the dates. Anything back before 1920 should be available. Anything less than 100 years or 80 years ago, may be hard to find.

Family Search as suggested by Robynne can be a valuable source but be careful as many thousands of marriage records are mis-indexed with incorrect locations..

Such as Home District in southern Ontario being indexed in Home Township about 1000km north of the Home District. Also Wellington County mis-indexed as the town of Wellington about 300 km east of Wellington County.

At the bottom of the images the actual location is shown.

Depending on what dates you are researching, local museums and newspapers can be a wonderful source of information, the newspapers include many social announcements. Most of these archived newspapers are not on the pay site Newspapers.com.

Somewhere I have a list of the websites I'll try to find it.

Sometimes a Google search such as Historic newspapers Kingston, Ontario or wherever will find historic newspaper websites.

Lately I've begun tracing a few loyalist families from the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys to Canada after the Revolution.  I've started to add Canadian sources, as I stumble across them to several of my source pages.

They are found at:

 https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Mohawk_Valley_Resources#Loyalist_Resources

 and at:

Another mix up I've noticed very frequently on both Family Search and Ancestry is records from Grey County indexed as Grenville.

Thank you all for the info.

A lot of hubby's family is from Manitoba, and it's just so easy to find them, mostly.

I do use Family Search, but get frustrated with the many duplicates of people, and erroneous info.

I did write to a Cemetery in Quebec today, and got a quick reply.  A bunch of family members show on FG as being buried in two different places.  It turned out most of them were cremated at Mount Royal, but then cremains released to either family members or other funeral home.  Now, I can go on FG and sort THOSE out.

It's hard to concentrate on one site, when you keep finding mix ups that need sorting on other sites!  : )

Thanks again, Brenda
