New Brunswick historians needed

I'm trying to replenish the page on Unconnected Canadian Politicians, but we're starting to run out of deceased unconnected former premiers, lieutenant governors, and colonial governors for a number of provinces. Now, of course, it would be very cool to have the job completed,1 but I want to make sure that we don't leave anybody out.

In the case of New Brunswick, Wikipedia lists (but does not have an entry for) "George F. G. Bridges", who apparently served as "Administrator of the Government" between the death of Wallace Bird on October 2, 1971 and the appointment of Hédard Robichaud on October 8, 1971. I couldn't find a "George F. G. Bridges" on WikiTree, but I did find an entry on Find A Grave for George Frederick Gregory Bridges, who is listed as having served as Chief Justice of New Brunswick from 1964 to 1972. A chief justice strikes me as a likely candidate to act as Administrator of the Government, but I don't want to go on guesses, I want to go on sources. Can anybody confirm whether or not this George Bridges is the right George Bridges?

Greg

  1. Or at least, completed in terms of having profiles for everybody and having all those profiles connected to the main tree. Many of those profiles still need a lot of work in terms of adding sources, writing a narrative biography, finding public domain images of the people and adding them to their profiles, adding the correct categories, and so on. But at least having the profiles added and connected is a good start.

It would also be nice to know whether the General William Balfour who has a profile on WikiTree is the same William Balfour who served as acting governor from September 10, 1811 to November 14, 1811. The dates don't quite match, but the WikiTree profile doesn't have much, and Wikipedia has almost nothing.

His marriage certificate from 1935 lists his occupation as barrister-at-law.

His father's 1933 obituary has him as "G. F. Gregory Bridges, barrister, of Mon[c]ton"

His closest relative here is his grandfather Henry Putnam Bridges (1821-1881)
