Help us choose and improve next week's 'Sounds of the Sixties' Featured Connections

The 1960s put out some great music, like that of Burt Bacharach, who passed away in 2023. We're looking at our connections to him in the Connection Finder as well as other musicians and songwriters who were popular during the 1960s.

Here's who we're getting started on:

Who else should we feature? We have room for 12 notables. We can't feature everyone who is nominated, but if we don't feature a profile you work on, we may use it sometime in the future. And, of course, all contributions help improve our shared tree.

Our choice of features will depend partly on the notable person's CC7, i.e. their connection count within seven degrees. The more connections they have, the more likely it is for all WikiTree members to find a close and interesting connection to them. So, if you nominate someone, please help grow their CC7.

Suggestions are more likely to be considered if you provide a link to the person on WikiTree, some information about who they were or why you're nominating them, and if their profile is in good condition with a connection, image, and well-written and well-sourced biography.

We'll make a final decision on which ones to feature early next week.

Please reply here with what you're working on so that we don't duplicate our efforts. Thank you!

Take note that this is not the place to discuss why you think we shouldn't feature someone if those reasons are due to politics, actions, or opinions of those being suggested. Mentioning things like their not being connected, their biography still needing work, erroneous information, etc. are all suitable for discussion here and an opportunity to correct those situations.

Help us choose themes for 2024 Connection Finder themes here.

As a Vietnam infantry combat veteran myself, all kinds of music rolled through my brain, to name but a few "We gotta get out of this place" and "The House of the Rising Sun", but then I thought, who better to symbolize the music of that era than Sergeant Adrian Joseph Cronauer-15 (1938-2018) with 181 connections, the original Chicken Man and radio jock who brought all the music to us grunts when we had time and space to listen in the field.  But, hey, doan' mean nothin'!

Captain Beefheart! CC7=902

And Gillian Hills (French yé-yé singer, most famous for "Zou Bisou Bisou") would be perfect, but she's still alive and marked as private. I reached out to the profile manager yesterday on how to make her a living notable but I haven't heard back. She's already connected via her father.

A few other names:

James Brown, the Godfather of Soul

Wilson Pickett, currently an unconnected notable

Anna Mae Bullock, better known as the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll Tina Turner

The Kinks, but brothers Ray Davies & Dave Davies are both still living and I don't think Mick Avory even has a profile. Maybe Pete Quaife could represent?

I'm a bit sad that no-one has suggested Paul Simon (Art Garfunkel is unfortunately not yet connected). The words "Sounds of..." immediately make me think of this duet, and they are in my opinion very representative of the 60s.

I'm a Paul Simon fan, too, Isabelle. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ray Davies from the Kinks! This may be him or this may be him! (To echo Regan's post above).
