Hi Wikitreers,

We have U.S. Civil War General Thomas Maley Harris who was born June 17, 1817 in Wood County, (Now Ritchie) on the Ohio River in Virginia, but in 1862 became West Virginia. He studied medicine and graduated from Louisville Medical College in 1843; helped in recruiting the 10th West Virginia and was their Lt. Col. He also served on the commission which tried the Abraham Lincoln conspirators. He served in the West Virginia legislature. Adjutant General of the state 1869-1870; also a pension agent at Wheeling 1871-1877. He authored several medical essays; “Calvinism Vindicated” and “Assassination of Lincoln.” See link at Familysearch. He died in Harrisville September 30, 1906. He was buried in the town cemetery?

I need collaboration in finding his gravestone marker. Does he have a memorial on FindAGrave?

Categorizing should he be placed in Virginia Physicians or West Virginia physicians?

Thank you

Update: apparently he already had a profile on Wikitree unfortunately it didn’t appear when his profile was created. Merge pending. I believe it didn’t appear as the year of birth is 1813 vs. 1817

Hi Luther,

Thank you

Oddly when I searched at FindAGrave by his name it didn’t appear but when I did a web search it did appear. The year is conflicting in records as birth year of 1813 vs. 1817.

Andrew:

Not a direct response to your question but here is a link to a pretty detailed obituary in The West Virginia Medical Journal:

https://www.google.com/books/edition/West_Virginia_Medical_Journal/lQgDAAAAYAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Thomas+Maley+Harris&pg=PA237&printsec=frontcover

May help as you work on his profile.

Please change any vote up or down on this.  I was trying to only bookmark it for future reference.  I have no opinion on it.
Thank you William for the link, it should come in handy.
