Are private messages forwarded to profile managers if sender isn't a guest or member?

I've just discovered wiki tree and found an ancestor and wanted to contact the profile manager via their private message link.  I've received the following from wikitree (I've deleted my personal details)  to my email address

This is a copy of a Private Message you sent via WikiTree. If you did not send this message, please alert info@wikitree.com.

The following was sent via the private messaging system on WikiTree.com.

xxxxx  email message  x
The sender, xxx, was not logged-in to WikiTree. If the message looks like bulk e-mail spam, please forward it to info@wikitree.com right away.

The sender was on this profile page when they sent the message: http://www.WikiTree.com/wiki/xxxxx

If xxxx xxxxxx s a family member add them to WikiTree. If they're a friend or fellow genealogist add them as an unrelated person.

Does this mean that my private message was not delivered to the profile manager. i.e Can you only send a message if you are a member or registered guest on wikitree.

I would also suggest if you do not hear back to do a post on the profile (without email address) letting them know you sent a private message.  on xyz date.  Sometimes they get trapped in the "Spam" file.
Thanks for the advice

No, you should be fine.  Anyone can e-mail a profile manager using the link on one of his/her profiles, but the actual e-mail address isn't shown on the profile.  The message actually sent includes the boilerplate language you quoted, instructing the recipient what to do if he thinks he's being spammed.
