Note that the section

Disputed Son

has not been dealt with, as well as improving the narrative about children identified by DAR and making sure they're integrated. The PPP on the profile prevents deleting Gideon Rice; not sure what the status of adding Ibzan is.

On 14 Sep 2023 Margaret Burns wrote on Rice-288:

I propose to add Ibzan Rice [Rice-14566] as a son of Hezekiah Rice [Rice-288]. Ibzan was appointed administrator of Hezekiah's estate, who died intestate, and in the estate files is identified as an heir along with Jephthah Rice and Edmond Rice. See Rice-14566 for sources. Ibzan was named administrator of his father's estate, who died intestate, and in the court probate documents is identified as his heir, along with two others: Jephthah Rice and Edmond Rice. North Carolina Estate Files, 1663-1979," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V121-71T : 8 March 2021), Hezekiah Rice, 1796; citing Caswell, North Carolina, United States, State Archives, Raleigh; FHL microfilm 1,728,084. Names of heirs are found on image 13 of 19.

As Margaret notes, only the males were likely identified in the probate settlement because women were generally restricted from inheriting or holding property.
