Help us find and improve next week's Connection Finder profiles: The First Thanksgiving

The US celebrates Thanksgiving on the 23rd, so we're reflecting on what we're thankful for, especially you all!

We're also featuring those who were present at the first US Thanksgiving meal in the Connection Finder next week to celebrate, starting with Richard Warren, who is also one of the most connected ancestors (#26) on WikiTree with CC7 of 117,462 connections.

Here's  who we're getting started on:

Who else should we feature? We have room for 12 notables. We can't feature everyone who is nominated, but if we don't feature a profile you work on, we may use it sometime in the future. And, of course, all contributions help improve our shared tree.

Our choice of features will depend partly on the notable person's CC7, i.e. their connection count within seven degrees. The more connections they have, the more likely it is for all WikiTree members to find a close and interesting connection to them. So, if you nominate someone, please help grow their CC7.

We'll make a final decision on which ones to feature early next week.

Please reply here with what you're working on so that we don't duplicate our efforts. Thank you!

Take note that this is not the place to discuss why you think we shouldn't feature someone if those reasons are due to politics, actions, or opinions of those being suggested. Mentioning things like their not being connected, their biography still needing work, erroneous information, etc. are all suitable for discussion here and an opportunity to correct those situations.

Help us plan Connection Finder themes for 2023 here and now the 2024 planning post is up, too!

A young child at the time, Richard More has a detailed and interesting profile page and north of 32,000 CC7 connections.

As one of the few Mayflower passengers and Thanksgiving attendees with a known Royal ancestry, he likely had a much different upbringing that most others at the feast.

Brian, The More's are distant cousins of mine And my connection to the Mayflower.  You and I are 9th cousins once removed.smiley  Hello, cousin!

Thanks, Brian.

Perhaps you could include John Woodlief Senior (bef.1584-abt.1637) - from his profile:

When the ship Margaret arrived [in Virginia] on 4 December 1619, Capt. John Woodlief, as instructed by the proprietors, proclaimed the "first" Thankgiving observance in the New World. The Virginia Thanksgiving was essentially a prayer service and not a feast. Woodlief’s instructions stated: "Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrivall at the place assigned for the plantacon in the land of Viginia shall be yearly and perpetualy keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God." I’ll see what I can find! I’m related to Edward Doty by marriage via several Cary and McNary marriages.

I suggest you feature Edward Winslow Jr., one of the least remembered Pilgrims but one of the most important.

I recommend Elizabeth Hopkins, wife of Stephen Hopkins.  She was one of only five women to survive the Mayflower crossing and one of only four to survive through to help cook that first Thanksgiving meal.  She was pregnant on the Mayflower and gave birth to Oceanus during the crossing.  She and Stephen had five more children in the new land.  She was one tough cookie, and we should work to find out more about her.
