Bio Check App Version 1.7.2

Version 1.7.2 of the Bio Check App is available.

Changes in this release:

  • After selecting Check Profiles you can select different values for Profiles to report: and that report will be displayed without having to select Check Profiles again. If however, you change a setting such as Check Open Profiles only or Report all profiles, you will need to select Check Profiles again.
  • Improvements to source checking

Corresponding Bio Check in the WikiTree Browser Extension and the Tree Apps will be updated shortly.

Is this confusing? If you have selected Detailed Report but instead you want to see a Summary Report, just change the pulldown for Profiles to report. You no longer need to click on Check Profiles to see that change.

I have a suggestion for BioCheck considering bilingual biographies. I like to seperate the languages with e.g. ==Deutsch== and ==English== respectively. The lines create a "wrong heading"-suggestion. Is it possible to delete that suggestion? Or is it possible to teach the program that this is a bilingual biography? (I'm not a computer tech person, so it's a bit amateurish expressed, but you get what I mean.)

Jelena,

Great question. The Bio Check app is following the guidance here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Biographies which specifies the two level section headings (the ones that start with two =)

Bio Check will recognize those headings in English, or in other languages. So you could use Biografie

Another thing that you could do, say for a profile such as https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sauer-607 is to have == Biography == then === Deutch === as a subsection (third level) heading.

The third level worked. The suggestion is gone. Thanks for that.
I'm with Jelena, for French bios that warrant a translation, of which there is a significant number, such as Filles du Roy, Filles à Marier, and a whole lot of males who are manifold ancestors.

3rd level doesn't really fit on these profiles, many of them being PPP.  The Fr and En versions are sometimes written by different people.  Not necessarily identical, depending on what the authors stressed.
Danielle - it is perfectly acceptable to have more than one section heading -- one that is Biographie containing the French version and another that is Biography containing the English version. Does this make sense?
So ==Biografie==

blablabla Deutsch

==Biography==

blablabla English

is ok?
Should be just fine
thanks Kay, there was actually another discussion on this subject quite a while back, the only part that cannot be duplicated is the ==sources== <references />
Danielle,

Interesting. As far as I know there can be multiple sources headings, such as == Sources == and == Quellen == but there should only be one <references /> tag. The references tag tells where to place the citations for the references. I'll check with Jamie. Thanks for bringing this up.
