having trouble connecting cemetery free space page with the category page

Awhile back I added some cemetery photos to some profiles I set up. Today I made a free space page for the cemetery and added some more names, so I could do profiles and add photos. I went back to the free space and added in the ones I had set up previously and linked them to the cemetery page.  When I look at their profiles page, the cemetery page link is in red. If I click on the link it asks me to create the free space page.  How do I get the free space page and the category page to link up?

Here's the free space page:http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:St._Mary%27s_Cemetery%2C_Swanton%2C_Vermont&public=1

Here's the category page:  http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:St_Mary%E2%80%99s_Cemetery%2C_Swanton%2C_Vermont

Here's one of the profiles I am talking about: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fournier-1160

RESOLVED (don't know how or why, but it's working now)

Hi Carolyn,

I tried to fix it by replacing the spaces with underscores in the link, but that didn't help, so I did a little expermenting trying to fix it.  You'll see all the things I tried if you look at the Changes tab and click on each of the ones I did.  I saw that there are several other people in the same cemetery looked to see how their templates were set up, but they were all yours and all set up the same way.

Nothing worked, so I left it without the link.  People can get to the cemetery category page from the profile and from there to the free space page for it.  Are you sure that you're supposed to be putting a link in the template for the cemetery name?

If so, I hope a member of the cemetery project will answer this question.
Gaile, thanks for the efforts to fix it. I cut and pasted the code from one of my other cemetery pages and just replaced the names and locations, so I don't know why it isn't working properly.  I have set up three prior to this the same way and they are working fine.  I am baffled.  Hopefully someone will be able to fix it or tell me what I did wrong.
Hello Carolyn I am not sure why your category showed up in red it should of worked.I copied and pasted the category from one of the profiles that is in the category and it is now showing up  which is strange but at least it now works Terry
Terry, it's still showing up red on other profiles. What did you do?
Terry, it's still showing up red on other profiles.  I see you removed the "Space" from the coding but now there is no link to the cemetery free space page.

Carolyn I copied and pasted the category from this profile http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Blair-2724 I have know idea why it's not working on other profiles but if you copy and paste from this profile it seems to work you should be able to copy and paste from your free space page now as well or any of the profiles the category works on Terry

Terry, I just recopied it and tried again and it's working!  I don't see one iota of difference. This is just bizarre! Thanks!
Hello Carolyn all I did was add the category where you had it where did you have the link to the free space page ? on the category page the link is still there
Yes it is really bizarre very strange but I am glad it is working if Lianne dosent know why it's not working then we never will :)
Just hope it stays working ! Thanks, everyone, for your help.

I gotta say, this one has me stumped. I just added the link back in and it works. Yet it looks like what I added is exactly what you had before. So I have no idea why it wouldn't have worked before! *shrugs*

I don't see an example of one that's not working, but I think I see the problem (maybe).

It appears that the apostrophe can be represented by a couple of different symbols, and you were lucky enough to discover both of them. Note in the top link, it shows the St. Mary's as a %27 and in the bottom it is represented as a %E2. If I had to take a wild guess, that's what was causing the issue. Once you replaced the link with the same symbol, it started working properly. I'd just keep an eye out for this in the future, as symbols like this often have alternatives that can throw a link for a loop.

Thanks, Scott.  I'll watch for that in the future.
I had trouble not being able to link the free space profiles with the photos of graves on individual profiles. Every time it said it couldn't find the free space profile.  In the end I found the only way it worked for me was to add the photo to the free space page first and then add the individual profiles, it worked fine that way round.
I do the opposite - make the free space page, then individual profiles, then add photos and link the profiles and photos to the free space.  Don't know how to do it any other way, but I haven't had any trouble with adding the photos.
Another approach is to use a text editor that is able to present/manipulate each character in a plain or encoded format. Windows Notepad does not do this, although it can use Unicode characters. With a more functional text editor, you would be able to see what each character looks it with respect to the actual computer character/byte and then deal with the byte(s) appropriately. Then there is no mystery about why things work or don't work. There any any number of good, free text editor tools, I like EditPad Lite.
