I created my first cemetery category, but didn't know how to add the free space page. Can someone finish this?

Where it says spacepage= in the CIB, change to

spacepage=Lind Center Cemetery, Waupaca, Wisconsin

where you copy-paste the text from the category name, they should be exactly identical.

After doing this and saving the change,  the link to the space will appear red in the CIB -- then you just click that red link and type anything in the initial text and save it, which creates the space.

There aren't any official guidelines for the actual content of the space page but I usually start it with a heading to match the page name, and link back to the Category so people can navigate; here's a basic example: Category:St_Anne%27s_Church_of_Ireland_Graveyard%2C_Sixtowns%2C_Londonderry .

Have you created a free space page and now you want to know how to add it to the category? Or are you asking how to create a free space page?

The template & directions for creating the cemetery page seemed to imply that a free space page should be created.  When I put in the page name as I thought it should be entered, & previewed, it came up red.  I looked at how the link for what to do & realized creating a the free space page is more than I could handle, so I removed the page name from the new cemetery template.

If if is important for such a page to exist, I guess I'm alerting that  someone else should do it & add it to the cemetery link I sent in my request.  In the future I'll probably just ask someone to create the cemetery itself, since this is beyond my time availability.
That option of the template is optional, not required. If someone adds a free space page, it can always be added to the category later.

For examples of what a cemetery free space page can look at, here are two that I've done:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:The_Stedman_family_cemetery

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:New_Helvetia_Cemetery_%28Defunct%29
Thank you for the explanation.  Your 2 examples clearly indicate why a free space page may be needed.

I think someone should clarify the instructions on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Cemetery_Categorization   Under "Create The Category Content" 1st sentence of 2nd paragraph.  When it says "all of the relevant/needed details" it implies that all of the details are needed.  It would be less confusing if it indicated which fields are required and which are optional or can be left blank if the information is unknown.

Can you make this change, or should I post this as a comment on that page?  I am a newbie & don't feel I have the background to do so.

If I understood you correctly, you were asking how to add the free space page to a cemetery category. The Template for CategoryInfoBox Cemetery is found here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:CategoryInfoBox_Cemetery

In case you're wondering how to find that page in the future, go to the menu at the top, click on Find/Categories/Wikitree Help/Templates/Category Templates. You'll find all the various categoryinfobox templates there.

If you read through the CategoryInfoBox Cemetery Template, you will see that not much of it is required. Even the preferred parameters do not mention a space page.

Usage with Required parameters:

{{CategoryInfoBox Cemetery
|name=
|parent=
}}

Usage with Preferred parameters:

{{CategoryInfoBox Cemetery
|name=
|parent=
|location=
|findagraveID=
|coordinate=
|startdate=
|enddate=
}}
Thank you.  I really didn't want to add a free space page to the cemetery I just added, but the directions made it sound like it was required.  I didn't notice there was a link that explained the template.  Using the link you sent, I was able to get the information I needed to edit the How To page.
