I am happy to say efforts of my cousin S. G. Tidrick and myself have resulted in his acceptance to the Mayflower Society, Texas chapter based on lineage of our ancestor Harper Delano Sears. Interesting that success of this application hinged on a collection at NEHGS in Boston. The problem we experienced was lack of birth evidence for two generations in Stowe, VT-
Birth records are not nearly as consistent there as other places in New England.
We submitted a number of exhibits to support the birth, death and marriage of Sylvester Charles [[Sears-3792|Sears]] 5 Feb 1829 in Stowe, Lamoille
Ex 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 33, 34, 35, Ex 39-Cabot Collection- interview # 172 p. (1870); 1850, 1857, 1870, 1880, 1895, 1900 censuses;
Exhibit 39 is the most interesting because it is a series of letters written by Wm Pelby Cabot and answered by the Cabot families and found at NEHGS mss CAB 15 - Cabot Collection. Fortunately the Cabots and Searses had a close connection.
Have you seen a "Letter Book" before. It was the answer to Xerox machine for the 1800s to keep copies of the letters one wrote.

Even better is James Morrison's response to Mr Cabot which ultimately proved birth marriage death dates.
