This is so cool- when you click the "Source citation" link at the bottom of the FindAGrave page it now includes the Wikitree Template!  e.g. see the beginning of the fourth line {{...}}

Find a Grave, database and images (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/214411870/robert_s-sears: accessed March 13, 2024), memorial page for Robert S Sears (27 Oct 1923–9 Aug 1987), {{FindAGrave|214411870}}, citing Oak Grove Cemetery, Hyannis, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, USA; Maintained by maria (contributor 48006473).

WikiTree profile: Robert Sears

Meanwhile the behavior is also described in the manual.

That was BEE and me. It's a side effect of the WikiTree button on Find a Grave.

Happy you like it.

Point of Order

The whole point of the WikiTree template (and the other templates in general) was to replace the actual URL link so in case the URL changed by the hosting website, the template could be changed once and all the profiles would be updated automatically.

But I see that the source citation is including the actual URL which defeats the purpose of the template.

Thanks for your answer. -i understand your point BUT...  Wikitree users have established a standard for FindAGrave citations which includes the URL-  here is the "rule"    If we can get the rule changed I would be happy to remove the URL from my citations?  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Find_A_Grave#Linking_to_Find_A_Grave_from_WikiTree
